Some traditions die hard, others take awhile to get off the ground. I’m a sucker for tradition, and I love to try to start new ones all the time, most tend to fizzle away slowly. Some start out with the right intention and end up being a one time deal, there are a few though that make it for the long haul. Most do revolve around major holidays, but there are a few I find comfort in. Like for instance we always go out to eat on Friday night and Sunday morning. The Sunday morning breakfast has stuck a lot longer than the Friday night dinners but the tradition is there.
Another one, which I suppose is more of a newer one, and we’ve managed to make it three years in a row now, to go downtown (Chicago) to Macy’s (formerly Marshall Fields) Walnut Room to see the tree and have lunch. It is a me and my mom thing, a little something special I hope we can share for many more years into the future. Last year we visited millenium park and then headed to eat. This year we decided to continue in that tradition but headed over to see the Marilyn Monroe statue first. It was a fun adventure. I took some pictures, not as many as I thought, but better to enjoy the moment than be looking through the viewfinder!
